Building community is the core of our Parish Life. Opportunities for participation in social events, fundraisers, and have an active role in parish leadership are abundant at St. Nicholas. Using our gifts of time, talent, and treasure we all are called to care for and build up the many parts of our diverse parish community.
St. Nicholas Groups and Clubs
Couples Ministry
The couples group, Sacred Family of San Nicholas, gathers once a month on a given Saturday from 7:00-9:00 pm. The objective is to strengthen our relationship and better communication with our spouse and child(ren) following the guide of the Sacred Family of Nazareth. Our goal is to have healthy marriages and families ready to confront daily situations. This group meets in Spanish. Evanston Area Black Catholics (EABC) is a group who come together in Christ’s name to build spiritual unity through prayer, fellowship, and discussion of our Catholic identity, religious traditions, and shared experiences. Through participation with the Archdiocese’s Black Catholic Initiative we maintain contact with our extended Black community to provide awareness of programs and opportunities that focus on our particular cultural and social concerns and interests. Each year we sponsor a Kwanzaa Celebration during the 4:30 pm Mass followed by a pot luck supper on the Saturday between Christmas and New Years at which all are welcome. We also gather during Lent for discussion of scripture and prayer in preparation for Easter.
