Registration and 1st deposit ($50) due January 25, 2020. Total participant cost is $325.
WHO: This is a multi-generational trip. Under 18 must be accompanied by parent or guardian. WHAT: The work usually consists of light construction (minor home repairs). We will also participate in cultural activities to experience the community, history, culture, music and environment of this area. WHY SHOULD YOU GO?: Although communities in West Virginia suffer some of our country’s highest rates of poverty, drug addiction, and environmental damage, these communities have a rich heritage and a spirit of resilience, strength and hope. As we learn from each other we will return with a deeper understanding of and stronger sense of community with our sisters and brothers in West Virginia. Join us when our St. Nick’s church leaves the building and travels to Pipestem, West Virginia. You will be transformed! We are a ministry of the Body of Christ at St. Nicholas dedicated to raising awareness of family violence and abuse in all its forms. We are committed to connecting those in need with community resources. Our vision is to put an end to the cycle of family violence. If you or anyone you know is being abused, call 911 in an emergency. Otherwise, call our neighborhood agency, Between Friends, for help at 1-800-603-HELP, a 24-hour, toll free, multilingual, confidential human voice line for additional assistance, counseling and advocacy.
