Traditionally a Quinceañera is a Hispanic celebration of a girl's fifteenth birthday and her transition from child to young adult. This typically involves a church ceremony, or blessing, followed by a reception. In recent years there have been some variations to the traditional celebration, including waiting until their sixteenth birthday, celebrations for boys or groups of young adults. Whether you want to be traditional or celebrate in your own way, we can work with you to make this celebration special for your family.
In Evanston the parishes of St. Athanasius, St. Mary, and St. Nicholas work together through United Catholic Youth Ministries (UCYM) to provide Quinceañera preparation and administrative support. Please visit the UCYM Quinceañera page for more information. UCYM will connect you with our preparation team and get you started AFTER you have registered in one of the parish offices. |
