What's Happening at St. Nicholas

Update on Religious Education and the 2020 Sacraments

4/3/2020

Picture
During this time of isolation, uncertainty and fear, I am extremely grateful for the great and tireless work of all of you. I know that you continue to nurture the Christian-Catholic faith in our children. As we enter into the most Sacred and Holy Days of our Church Year - the Easter Triduum, take time to pray together as a family. During Holy Week there will be many moments of grace for you and your family to celebrate Holy Week.

The Religious Education office, our pastor - father Joseph Tito-, the coordinator, Juanita Tamayo, and all members of the pastoral team of Saint Nicholas parish, want to let you know that we are here for you during this time of crisis. The St. Nicholas Pastoral Team is within reach via telephone or email.  We are here to listen to what your needs are, both spiritual and social, and offer the necessary support.

Please note that St. Nicholas parish adheres to directives of the Archdiocese of Chicago, who, in coordination with the local and federal governments, follow the recommendations of the medical and scientific advisers who determine the guidelines of social distancing, which will remain in effect until further notice, at least until April 30, 2020.

Therefore, we want to inform you that:
  • The Sacrament of Confirmation will not be on April 25, 2020. The new date will be determined once we hear from the Archdiocese and the availability of our Bishops.
  • The sacrament of First Communion is postponed until further notice. We will work on rescheduling these when the state allows us to have gatherings once more.
  • The Easter Sacraments for RCIA candidates are also postponed until further notice. More information will be provided on when these sacraments could be celebrated after this crisis subsides.
Please note,  WE WILL CELEBRATE all of these Sacraments as soon as we are allowed to. Further details will be forthcoming to all of those that have been preparing for the Sacraments as more information is available.

Please share this information with the families you know and who probably have not received emails or don't review our website.
